Pace’s First Birthday

This past May we celebrated our baby girl, Pace’s first birthday with a southwestern themed party! We invited close friends and family to join us for an afternoon of Tacos and cupcakes! As guests arrived they placed their gifts inside a floral and ribbon accented tee pee that took the place of a traditional gift table.

Outside, a craft table was set up for the kids to personalize their own planters and to choose their favorite cactus to plant and take home with them as a party favor.

A gold high chair accented with beautiful blooms designed by the ladies of Liz Stewart Floral Design may just have been my favorite decor detail of the day and the perfect place for baby girl to have her very first taste of sugar.

The dessert table was set with our favorite treats from local bakeries. AlleyCakes created succulent cupcakes and the sweetest smash cake there ever was. Cactus sugar cookies were the perfect touch from Cinotti’s Bakery. Gnarled vines, fresh cut succulents and lose blooms accented the tasty desserts. Above the dessert table hung a faux bison head with a floral crown. The backdrop for our bison was the perfect cactus wall paper found from ThinkNoirWallpaper’s etsys shop!

Our family bulletin board displayed some of our favorite pictures of Pace through out our first year with her.

It was such a sweet afternoon surrounded by friends and family celebrating our girl and what feels like the fastest year of our lives!

Sarah & Jordan, Bowing Oaks Plantation

“To be loved but not known is comforting but superficial. To be known and not loved is our greatest fear. But to be fully known and truly loved is, well, a lot like being loved by God. It is what we need more than anything. It liberates us from pretense, humbles us out of our self-righteousness, and fortifies us for any difficulty life can throw at us.” – Tim Keller, The Meaning of Marriage

I consider myself privileged to get to walk along side couples during one of the most important seasons in their lives. Each wedding I do, I am reminded of the meaning of marriage. It is such a sweet gift for my own heart and my own marriage, that time and time again I get to witness two become one.

This past July, Simply Grace Events had the honor of walking along side Sarah & Jordan as they were married at Bowing Oaks Plantation in Jacksonville, Florida.

Sarah, was surrounded by her beautiful bridesmaids the morning of her wedding as the talented Sara Jane of Blush & Mane did their hair and makeup. I watched as these women laughed together, cried together, prayed together and poured out unconditional love over their girl, as she prepared for her walk down the aisle.

Once ready, Sarah shared what was an emotional First Look with her father, who not only walked his daughter down the aisle, but also married Sarah and Jordan.

Sarah is one of five and the love these siblings have for each other is palpable. Not only did Sarah share a first look with her Father, but also her 3 brothers, as her mother and sister, Matron of Honor, Laura looked on with tears in her eyes.

Sarah’s three brothers also stood in for her father as he walked her down the aisle. They welcomed the guests to the ceremony, prayed for Sarah & Jordan and then asked “Who gives this bride away?” It was such a meaningful way to incorporate her brothers into her ceremony.

Sarah and Jordan chose not to see each other prior to the ceremony. Oh the love of a groom, for his bride, as she walks down the aisle. It is my favorite moment. every.single.time.

Cue the first kiss!

Following the ceremony, guests were invited inside the plantation for drinks, dinner & dancing!

Sarah’s grandmothers china adorned the head table along with beautiful garland and blooms designed by Ann Evans of Cypress Floral.

The evening was such a beautiful celebration of marriage, family and friendships and some seriously good dance moves!
